Craig Saunders MD

Dr. Saunders graduated from The Ohio State University in 1980 with a dual major in biochemistry and physiology. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Toledo, Ohio in 1989 and a fellowship in pediatric and adult orthopedic reconstruction, Ilizarov Method, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 1992. Dr. Saunders is a graduate of the 2015 Ingram Institute Physician Leadership College. He was the UCMS-TMA nominee for the Ingram Institute Leadership Lab, which he completed in July 2016. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and Board Certified in Orthopedics with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Prior to relocating to the Upper Cumberland area, Dr. Saunders spent several years in Gallup, New Mexico in private practice and worked with the Indian Health Service (IHS) and then in private practice over 20 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metroplex. He is on staff at Highlands St. Thomas Hospital in Sparta with outpatient clinics in Sparta, Cookeville, and Crossville. Dr. Saunders is president of the UCMS-TMA
